US Slicing Machine Co. Standard Computing Scale. A beautiful scale from the mid 19th century. I have meticulously & carefully restored this piece of history to pristine operating condition. On a scale (excuse the pun) of 0-100 I would rank this beauty at a solid 97. You just can't find them in this condition anymore.
Near flawless enamel with one minor chip on scale base and a larger one on the side end plate, see pictures. Weighing tray has minor scuffs from years of use but still very nice. Near perfect chrome and stainless trim. Front magnified glass and milk glass at the rear are all flawless. Scale has had the fluid dampener cleaned and refilled with new oil and the brass polished. Scale adjusted to 'zero out' perfectly. Bulbs replaced and a new cloth wrapped, grounded cord, was installed, old cord was not grounded.New felt dust shielding installed where needed.  Scale will light up at less than 1/4 lb of weight on the tray. The scale is cast iron and heavy at @60 lbs., so local pick up only.  I could ship, but only after building a substantial crate at the buyers expense.
Base plate underneath has been stripped and repainted gloss black by a professional auto painter.
Reconditioned all 3 adjustable legs with new felts.
Unit shows 2 original Dept. of Agriculture stamps of weight and measure, last being 2006.
I hate to see this old girl go to another home, as it would be spectacular in my kitchen.
