Description
Vintage 1960s - 1970s 381-5188 Craftsman Bench Vise with Anvil made in Japan.Custom two-tone Gloss Black and Chrome paint job. 4 Coats each. Paint Pen for lettering.
4" Wide Jaws open to a maximum usable length of 5.5" Weighs about 25 lbs, sorry my scale isn't 100% acurate, give or take half a pound.
The flat anvil back measures 2.5" long by 2" wide
I added a bit of bling to it by polishing the jaws and top to a mirror shine. Base will be removed for shipping, very easy to reinstall.
Removable jaws are original in excellent shape, I replaced the original M6 screws with new steel screws.
Reasonably priced, these 4" Craftsman vises are getting harder to find and when you do, they're usually beat up, rusty, and abused and people still ask 0 for them! It is getting harder to find a quality heavy duty 4" vise in any modern brand so people are turning to these oldies but goodies.
Get this for your garage, workshop, man cave, lady den, business, desk, bathroom, whatever. It will look good no matter where it is. Put it to work or put it in your tool collection.
These Craftsman vises are excellent for heavy duty work. There are no visible cracks from what I saw when it was stripped down.
This vise is in excellent shape. The pipe jaws under the flat jaws will get a good grip on pipe and round objects for you while you're working.
No putty or mud was used in the restoration of this vise. I do my best to grind off some of the casting marks on the backs of the jaws but that's about it. I do not believe in using body filler or putty on a vise. I strip it down to raw metal, grind down all the marks and gouges on the top of the jaws for polishing, and that's about it before acetone and paint.
I will ship USPS Priority Mail either in a large flat rate box. Vise will be well padded. I will gorilla proof this thing for shipping! Any damage that occurs during shipping should be reported back to me right away so I can correct it as best as I can. I have only had 1 vise out of over 30 receive damage during shipping which was light paint damage only.
Buy it now, check out my other items for sale, and add me as a favorite seller. I have a line up of at least 10 more vises I plan to restore and post up so don't miss out on my latest restorations!
