    Description

Original WWII era US Parachute Produced by WM. E. Wright and Sons, date stamped March of 1942. Please see pictures for details and condition. You can read about this company and how they were among the first to produce American parachutes for the government to use in World War II beginning in 1941 at the link below. The company has along and interesting history of manufacturing various types of textiles since 1897. Apparently most American parachutes produced during the WWII time frame were made of canvas and not silk, since imports from China were not really happening during this time and so silk was in short supply. This one is extremely light and semi transparent and seems to be made of silk or something very close. This parachute is about 7’ in diameter from edge to center and there are 16 triangular sections. Each section edge measures about 32” at the edge and about 1” at the center. No holes, rips, tears or stains, no odd smells, not even a loose thread. Off white color with black thread stitchings. Smoke and pet free home. The parachute also came with a large spool of string and so I am including it as well. In any case, I can’t imagine there are many of these around any more. If you have any questions or would like additional pictures, please ask. I am not a parachute or WWII expert, just selling this and so I am trying to describe it as I see it. Thank you!
