1800's Erie Tool Works 1C Combination Swivel Vise Pipe Jaws USA Vice Prentiss
3 1/2" jaws, opens 3 1/2" safely, has 3 3/4" bar depth, 7 1/2" total height (without base 6" threaded rod length), 12" total length, arm swing 9", base diameter 5" weighs 35 lbs. Has pipe jaws, Swivel vises are designed to rotate 360 degrees without moving the workpiece from the vise. Ductile iron offers good vibration resistance, high strength, high durability and heat resistance and plus it is made in the USA. Very early vise I wouldn't be surprised if it dates to the late 1800's or early 19th century. Overall the vise is in decent condition with wear and tear but no cracks or repairs although the swivel nut is missing a tab and there is a little weewah on the threaded rod. I have disassembled, cleaned, inspected and lubricated it. Ready for your collection or work if you choose to use it.
